A Study in Scarlet: Evidence

Canon Story: A Study in Scarlet

Author: Chess Ka

Rating: G

I never asked about Watson’s Afghan experience. I had no need: evidence of it was in his injuries, in his gaunt frame and haunted eyes.

I may have asked, were it not for the nightmares that dogged his sleep, or the way he flinched when I set a teacup down too forcefully.

Instead, I picked up my violin. I played.

This is lovely: Holmes being aware of how Watson feels and doing what he can to make them better.

A subtle demonstration of concern and friendship:-)

Nicely penned.

Oh, nice! Holmes wouldn't need to ask. I always sort of assumed he didn't much care - but I like this much better, that he doesn't ask because he notices and instead of asking, attempts to soothe. I think I have new headcanon now! Thanks! :)

I guess the instrument started to soothe at least two in those days. :)

Gorgeous glimpse of a touching character beat. Wonderful!

I like very much Holmes quietly deducing the severity of what John's been through but not feeling the need to comment. Nice. Very nice, indeed.

I love it! I especially enjoyed the hints of a troubled Watson. Ones that he never put to pen directly himself. Very nicely done!

Aw, poor Watson! I do like this, and I like that this drabble shows a little bit of Sherlock's sensitive side :)

Nice work!

Marvelous. It's nice to see Holmes being astute where it counts (even if he might not consider it of the utmost importance).

Aw, that's sweet. So like Holmes, to be aware of things and to say nothing, but to act instead.
