SECO – Qualifications

"Then I will tell you, relying entirely upon your honour and that of your colleague, Dr. Watson. I may appeal to your patriotism also, for I could not imagine a greater misfortune for the country than that this affair should come out."

Until that moment, I thought the Premier arrogant and narrow-minded, but not unintelligent. Such was the evidence, and so I reasoned until he spoke those words.

I knew then the man was an idiot savant. To realize that he could rely entirely on our honour was wise. To think that he had to appeal to my Watson’s patriotism – pure idiocy.

"You may safely trust us."

Truly an insult to Watson's patriotism. With words like that one wonders who really stands to lose.

Yes, this does come across as a somewhat patronising and insulting comment. A good job that Holmes and Watson responded as gentlemen:-)

Glad the two didn't dismiss the case for this insensitive comment. Nice perspective. Thanks!

LOL! Yes, a very short case :-) Of course, the other question...would Lady Hilda have still sought out Holmes' advice and would he have approached the case from a completely different perspective then?

Adorable. No one need doubt Watson's loyalty -- ever. :)
