Author's Notes: Sherlock Holmes was a man who seldom took exercise for exercise's sake…



“Do come for a walk, Holmes!” said Watson.

“I have no need of exercise,” sighed Holmes from the settee. “I’m naturally athletic.”


As soon as Watson was gone, Holmes stood up and whipped out the dumbbells. “One, two, thr—”

“Holmes, I forgot…”

“Oh!” Holmes dropped the weights.

Watson grinned. “Naturally athletic, eh? Those may be dumbbells but they speak volumes.”

It was about six months later, when I had gone to Liberty’s to buy Mrs Hudson a present to offset some of the damage caused by Holmes’ latest experiment, that I met Grant Munro again.  He showed me the ribbons he had bought for his daughter’s hair, explaining that, unable to choose between the two ribbons, he had bought both.
