Reverend Elman
Did not care for the plan
That took the suspect out of the way
Nor did it make the good Doctor’s day

How true. Thanks for sparing a thought for someone who gets very little sympathy; though mainly the poor Doctor.

Oh, your final clerihew... *wipes away a tear* (^^)

You have got to sympathise with the Rev. Elman. I wonder if he did get the police to investigate the telegram. Holmes does usually wriggle out of these things but...

And poor Watson unwittingly being sent off to baby-sit a murderer. The fact that Holmes seems to find it amusing is just rubbing it in.

He was most definitely not amused! Though come to think of it, that had to be the most exciting that that had happened to him in a long time. I bet he'll be talking about the mysterious telegram and the strange visitors for years to come. :-p

As always, such a poignant clerihew. The excursion to the vicarage of Little Purlington definitely did not make Watson's day. You tell from the story that he tries to remain polite but he is seething between the lines. ;) It is an interesting ploy to make us, the readers, dislike Amberley even more.
