The Mazarin Stone/Gen

Story: The Mazarin Stone
Rating: G
Summary: Mrs. Hudson isn’t fooled any more than we are.

“Doctor Watson, you shouldn’t allow anyone else write up Mister Holmes’s cases. Your readership want your perspective as much as a thrilling adventure and a mystery solved.”
“What gave it away, Mrs. Hudson?”
“’Consider the furniture!’ As if that man has ever considered the furniture, the carpet, the wallpaper, that lovely pot of violets I had growing in the window…”

Absolutely! ^^ It would be very surprising if Holmes suddenly started worrying about other people injuring the furniture ^__^ The story has obviously been written by someone who doesn't know Holmes well.

Must admit I noticed the phrase too and almost posted a 60 for it (but I couldn't get it quite right):

For the attention of Mr. Holmes:

Reupholstering sofa (Camberwell mud analysis): 10/-

Repairing bullet holes in wardrobe (Believed cravatte to be snake): 15/-

Replacing drawer lock (Left Dr. Watson without key when in need of chequebook): 18/-

Replacing bed frame and replastering wall behind headboard (Inspector Hopkins called round): £14.7s.3d.

Payment due by the 31st.

Yours respectfully,

E. Hudson (Mrs.)

That would be absolutely fine by me ^_^ I'm rather tickled you'd want to use the line. I can't promise that I'll read the fic if it appears (as I've said, I know my limits when it comes to fanfic) but I shall look out for it with interest.

A fair point, well made, Mrs H:-)

No wonder the Count was fooled - Holmes behaviour was totally out of character ;)

Very well pointed out! The Mrs Hudson voice is good, and she has an excellent point about Watson's fans.

Hmmm... is this Mrs. Hudson's oblique way of pointing out that the author maybe consulted her?
