Author's Notes: Our client, Mr. Robert Ferguson, of Ferguson and Muirhead, tea brokers, of Mincing Lane, has made some inquiry from us in a communication of even date concerning vampires.


The slurping noise woke Watson with a start.

He tiptoed downstairs—

And was greeted by a truly revolting sight.

“Holmes!”

Holmes looked up, his lips glistening wet. “It’s just so delicious!”

“I know...”

Watson sighed.

“And you must have your reward. But—”

He winced as Holmes took another slurp.

“—could you at least let Ferguson’s tea cool before drinking it?”

To the modern British ear, it feels so odd to think of Holmes as a Yorkshireman ^__^ We think of 'posh' people as coming from the south.

But I suppose in Victorian times, Holmes's class would be far more of a marker of who he was than where he lived.

I would like to point out that Holmes woke Watson with his damned slurping.

I am and will always be on Watson's side regarding this issue - tea should be allowed to cool a little and then sipped genteelly. Not slurped. (*shudders*)
