I once knew everything about my friend. I could deduce the thought behind each expression. I could tell from his footsteps on the stairs whether he was happy, or sad, or weary.

Now I am learning about my lover: new expressions to commit to memory, and ways to induce happiness instead of merely observing it. Education, it seems, never ends.

Mmmm, nice story! I like the idea that a change in their relationship means Holmes has a whole new set of things to deduce.
