The Red Circle: Light
Canon Story: The Red Circle
Title: Light
Author: Mafief
Rating: G
Warnings: none
Author’s Note: Magical realism (because I wanted to)
Summary: “…and the way in which you brought light into the darkness. I remembered his words when I was in doubt and darkness myself."
Holmes retrieved a delicate gold bee from his pocket. He breathed out a yellow light into the bee and it sparked with life. It buzzed about and landed on the client’s shoulder.
“This will relay any necessary details,” said Holmes. She relaxed and exited our room.
“Now Watson, let’s see what can be done about the source of the darkness.”

Bees also act as tracking devices and weapons during an all-female commando raid to rescue Mycroft in the BBC Sherlock story "The Magnificent Division," one of the "Joan's Beez" stories in the above link.
A fuming Watson uses bees to drive off an encroaching young woman (who is NOT AT ALL based on Laurie R. King's Mary
SueRussell) in a Victorian Retirement story On the Strategy of the Queen (https://archiveofourown.org/works/7765282).Oh, and Joan Watson turns into a bee in the Kafka-ish Bee Yourself (https://archiveofourown.org/works/6946732).
