Author's Notes: …Miss Violet Smith did indeed inherit a large fortune, and… is now the wife of Cyril Morton, the senior partner of Morton & Kennedy, the famous Westminster electricians. How many electrical engineers does it take to change a light bulb?

“Violet got her inheritance—will you come and work in our new business...?”

“Yes!” said Kennedy.

Morton grinned as he replaced a light bulb.

“You only love her for her money,” Kennedy teased.

“What other reason could there be for loving her?” smiled Morton.

The lamp came to life.

“When you talk about her,” said Kennedy, “your face lights up.”

Author: [livejournal.com profile] vaysh
Rating: G
Pairing: Holmes/Watson
Words: 60

'I wonder,' Holmes began one evening, 'whether you think it selfishness that I keep you around.'

I dropped my pipe in startled amazement. 'Why on earth would you wonder that?'

'I keep you from your practice. And from...'

Another marriage, he did not say.

'Well,' I replied, 'I assure you I'm exactly where and with whom I want to be.'

“Tell me, Watson, why should a man be presented with a dead creature, such as a mouse or small bird, every morning?”

“Cats do have that tendency, despite their owners’ objections.”

“Yes, but they do not leave them neatly packaged in small cardboard boxes.  We should be better occupied in looking for a human culprit, rather than a feline one.”
