Grace Dunbar
Would have acted better by far
If instead of trying to change Gibson’s life
She had thought rather more of his wife

Blunt and to the point ^^

Yes, I'd agree with that. Miss Dunbar certainly didn't deserve the terrible experience of being arrested on suspicion of murder, but she should have looked for another job and left as quickly as possible when Gibson's interest became apparent. Or at least been cool and detached towards him.

Ha! Quite right.

Her decision to stay under a roof with her besotted, ruthless boss who prides himself on "breaking people" to get what he wants and his temperamental wife who obviously hates her does seem strange. She must have really believed in herself as a force for good--or maybe she really liked the kids and the job!

You know, the more I think about this case, the more suspicious I am of Miss Dunbar's motives for staying in there.

Wonderful clerihew, as always.
