Canon Story: The Three Gables
Title: Armament

Author's Note: Whew, what a long week! Hopefully next week will be better -- and given the fact we're reading the Three Garridebs, I think it will be. :)

Steve Dixie brandished his fist, a brick made for pummeling, while I resorted to the only armament in an arm's length, the fireplace poker.

Holmes wielded naught but his fearless voice, talking his way out of trouble as easily as he talks his way into it. He trusted his weapon, as did I, but I kept my cudgel.

Holmes better did, given that he tends to drown physical weapons in the intercourse of his experiments. ;P Genius comparison!

I like! Brain and brawn - both are necessary. The one without the other will always be vulnerable.
I love the part where SH uses his voice to get himself out of trouble as easily as it gets him into trouble:P

I'm with Watson on this point and trusting to the poker. Just so long as one of the other clients hasn't already bent it!

Holmes's voice is definitely one of his most potent weapons, but there's no doubt he knows that whatever happens, Watson is there to back him up. :D

Wise man, that Watson. Yes, Holmes uses his words like weapons, but they don't always work the way he intends. ;-)

Love this!

Very true! Watson's skill with pokers and pistols helps even things out when he doesn't always follow SH's deductions. They need each other.
