The terrible is too much for the average human mind to handle. Cover it in theory, the mundane, or even the joke, and terror will make way for reason.

Thanks! :) I was thinking about how the fun stories in particular often cover up some nastiness, and how I often joke about stuff to deal with it in an easier way. Now that I think about it, this way of thinking kicked off a comic series.

At least that's an experience I've made a lot. When people are ready and able to talk about their problems, without wanting to belittle them, they're on the way of recovery. It's those who seal the dark away who need most care, I'm afraid.
