Canon Story: The Musgrave Ritual
Title: Old Acquaintances & The Tutor
Rating: PG
A/N: And this week I have 2. Yeah, I'm really failing at not joining in this time round.

“See much of that Trevor fellow?”

Holmes gritted his teeth. “No,” he bit out. He's a client. You need to be polite. “He went to India,” he allowed.

“Ah,” said Musgrave, in a too-knowing voice. Holmes did his best to ignore it. The work is all you need, he reminded himself. Companionship is an unnecessary distraction.

Go on now, Reggie. Run along and spend the day measuring shadows and working out trigonometric equations – you've not yet told me the height of that elm tree. That's a good boy. While you keep yourself busy, I'll sample some of your father's brandy and cigars, then see if the new chamber maid is as friendly as the last.

Also screencapped my favourite moment from the Granada episode at my LJ, if anyone's interested.

Yes, failing completely so far! Delighted to see that is the case.

You can see why Musgrave wasn't regarded as a friend, and there follows quite a telling insight into the complacency of the villain. Nicely done:-)

I'm really failing at not joining in this time round.

I'm not sad about this kind of fail. ;P

I like both of these, but I think the first one goes even deeper than the second, and leaves me with a warm and fuzzy feeling of Watsonwareness.

I love that we get one with all the feelings and then a funny one. You're so good at both.

LOVE the second one - I literally sucked in my breath and went "oooooo" when I hit the last few words. Awesome twist on the butler's character, such as we saw!

Awww! That first one!

Can I hug Holmes please? Or do we just wait for Watson to come along and do it for us?

The first one is deceptively complex, with more going on than meets the eye -- I love it.

The second is just too delicious. I love your Brunton!

Scandalous times at old Hurlstone Manor! No wonder Brunton stuck around!

User [livejournal.com profile] spacemutineer referenced to your post from 60 for 60, week 2: The Musgrave Ritual (http://dispatch-box.livejournal.com/194486.html) saying: [...] by Old Acquaintances & The Tutor [...]

Oh, I love that you connected the two older cases by having Musgrave ask about Trevor! And that second one sure puts a little tarnish on Brunson's polished facade. :-)
