Canon Story: The Adventure of the Crooked Man
Title: Bathsheba

You tricked me.  Just like David you sent the man I loved to his death.  But I am no Bathsheba.  I didn’t consent to be your wife until he was gone and never coming back.  But today he came back and I now know the truth.  You are no longer fit to be my husband.  I wish you were dead.

Ouch. Nice window here into poor Nancy's thoughts. I wonder how much different and happier her life would have been with Henry instead of James...

Ooof. Nicely done, and really good usage of a Biblical reference that would have been very familiar to the Roman-Catholic, Victorian-era Nancy. This feels *very* canon. :-)

Be careful what you wish for, indeed.

I love seeing each week the different POVs everyone chooses. Yours is brilliant. I think the biblical reference in this story is one of the more clever clues that ACD ever used. I'm so glad you chose to expand on that. Excellent!

Oh, very nicely done! Love the tone: strong, cold, bitter.

Yes. So sad to consider what everyone's life would have been if Barclay had not been a monster.
