RESI – Researches

An imperfect vessel ruined a day’s work.

A swift glance showed me what I had missed during that day: my Watson, peaked, restless, longing to be distracted from himself and his lingering ill-health, but not trusting his own strength enough to venture outdoors alone.

Time to resume another, always more fruitful, line of study. Watson always rewards a careful researcher.

"Ha! The stars are out and the wind has fallen. What do you say to a ramble through London?"

Oh, this is lovely. The broken test tube (phial?) is a great moment to target - it so clearly was a moment which turned Holmes's mood.

I love the idea of Watson being an ongoing line of study...so sweet, really.

Thank you! I found that moment fascinating, because I think that in another instance Holmes might have plunged into a black mood instead of suggesting a walk. I wondered what stopped him - and this is what came out!

I love that Watson is a frequent field of study and one he has not grown bored with and does not seem to anticipate doing so. So long and close their acquaintance, it makes sense that he finds Watson such a compelling line of research.
