I found being left behind while Holmes and Lestrade went to question James McCarthy extremely difficult. I spent the hours that I was alone trying not to agree with the thought I had seen in Holmes's eyes when he had observed my pique at the situation – that I had left him behind first by marrying, and quite deserved this.

I totally understand; I wound up referring to one of my July fic challenges in mine, because I just couldn't come up with a different angle! And I'm right there with you on the infidelity squick. I think you did a great job coming up with a different take.

I squick at infidelity. Agreed. Even when it makes for lovely, lovely angst. After all, sometimes fidelity makes for lovely angst too, as here.
