This is rather beautiful, though I'm quite sure the machine and the cold heart are more of a shield than a character trait. But as you wrote it, from the characters' perspectives, it's obvious that they'd never admit so, and it never hurts to find love (well, not in that way at least).

I thought about the 'cold heart and machine' wording when I wrote it. Realized it's a bit cliche but figured this might describe them more before they met their partners.
