I cannot help but sympathize with Mr. Cubitt. Goodness knows that I’ve had to forgive my love for keeping his secrets, and I try to be understanding of his need to keep some part of himself separate from me. I have made him no explicit promise, but our years together with his freedom somewhat intact are, I suppose, promise enough.
