Author's Note: A bit of Bradstreet. And God, I'm still digging myself out from travel and work, still behind. This should be the week I get my head above water finally... *fingers crossed* Sorry, everyone, once again, for my lameness!


The overnight shift dragged on. Bradstreet rubbed at his eyes as the first rays of morning light peeked in. He envied the sleeping prisoners. It would be hours more until he'd have that privilege.

A constable knocked for his attention. "It's Mr. Holmes, sir."

Sherlock Holmes? He's certainly up with the sun today, Bradstreet thought. Well, this should be amusing.

Ha! I love the thought that the fictional denizens of the Holmes world have basically the same expectation as we readers. It is a universal truth that you can count on Sherlock Holmes to provide an amusing interlude. :-)
