Canon Story: A Case of Identity
Title: An Unmentionable Truth
Author: [livejournal.com profile] smoothe1
Rating: PG-13

A/N: Still trying to catch up. I've always thought this story had an "uncomfortable" side and, perhaps, a truth that polite Victorian society would not allow Watson to publish. This entry from his private journal confirms that:

Yes..."Identity" indeed. Circumstances compelled me to conceal not only their's but the harsh reality of events.

That a step-father would pose as suitor to fulfill his most licentious, vile, and animal lusts...too scandalous to publish. That the maiden forfeited her life rather than deal with the truth and issue from the relations...too sad to put to pen.

This really caught my attention. A grim and vivid interpretation of the tale.

Well done:-)

Interesting take. Sadly, I see this still in certain parts of the world.

Nicely written!

True. Taking this ficlet to the extreme, you've created a reflective piece. Not bad for 60 words!

Wow, that's dark, but all too disturbingly plausible. Fantastic take -- so unsettling.
