A/N: This is one of my favourite stories but it wasn't until I reread it this time round that I noticed it takes place two days AFTER Christmas
Lighting his pipe he curled into his armchair, tucking his stockinged feet beneath him. He threw the match into the open fire then wrapped the dressing gown around him for warmth. Once resettled he reached for the half drunk glass of whisky he had left on the side table and, with it, raised a toast to the empty chair opposite.
