Had I known of his feelings, Holmes’ snappishness regarding my visit to a Turkish bath would have been more understandable.  While men of our tastes can find some comfort in the more salacious aspects of such establishments, I had never done so.  But on a later visit together, Holmes did demonstrate the advantages of being hidden in clouds of steam.

When I saw those words, my heart nearly stopped in my breast, but I recovered my nerves as I read on. He’d seen through my duplicity, but thought little of it. Good old Watson, he was my closest ally in his deception; taking the wrong conclusion from the right facts once again. He’d never know how I relished in his concern.
