Canon Story: The Empty House
Title: Other Battles Won that Day
Author: Mafief
Rating: G
Warnings: none
Author’s Notes: More than once, as tufts of grass came out in my hand or my foot slipped in the wet notches of the rock, I thought that I was gone. I couldn’t pass up an opportunity to write about a plant and provide the backstory for one of the tufts of grass.
Each year we competed, me with my strangling roots and her with her shading leaves, to choke the other from precious nutrients. We fought for domination of our small earthen crevasse. By chance, she was ripped away and plummeted to her death in the falls. I was free, or so I thought, but her offspring were left to revenge her.

Canon Story: The Empty House
Title: Not a Dream
Author: Mafief
Rating: G
Warnings: Feels that resolve quickly
Author’s Notes: Since the grass one has little to do with the story, I wrote another one that is more on task. Watson is at the breakfast table in Kensington the morning after the events in the empty house.
I stared at the cracked eggshells littering my breakfast plate. Had it all been a dream? Will I wake to find my life as empty and broken as before?
No, it was real. I felt his thin arm, I heard his familiar voice…
Interrupting my thoughts, the maid announced that I had a visitor. In my doorway stood Holmes smiling.
