Canon story: The Dying Detective
Title: A Varied Correspondence
Author: impulsereader
A/N: This is the second story in which Holmes mentions the diverse correspondence he receives and my brain ran riot. One mind and 60 words cannot do this idea justice, but here is my humble offering.

*****

Items which have been posted to Sherlock Holmes: A dead man’s watch fob (natural causes), the disarticulated skeleton of a greyhound (murder), lace encrusted with dried blood (completely innocent), a live puff adder (thwarted), a very fine Japanese netsuke made of ox bone (gift), a freshly severed ear (threat), dried lilac petals (love poem), a handful of dirt (for analysis).

Okay, now I really want to know more about the greyhound. ;-) Nicely done!

Looking at it as a whole, the greyhound was the only outright example of foul play.

Well, if you discount the puff adder... ;-)

Oh, this is fab. I love all the tiny stories involved. It's just enough detail to outline eight miniature plots, with not a word to spare. How fantastically clever is that!

An awfully good job -- I think Watson would approve :-)
