COPP – No Sister of Mine

I could not help speculating on it. Nothing about her physically was similar, but the self-sufficiency, the intelligence, the determination; qualities so like what I remembered.

No sister of mine would have been foolish enough – or reduced enough – as to fall into Rucastle’s mysterious scheme, but I could not help but wonder what she would have become, had she lived.

Extended-play version (100 words):

I could not help reflecting on it, long after Miss Hunter had left for her position. In fact, the question haunted me for weeks. Nothing about her physically was similar, but the self-sufficiency, the intelligence, the determination; all these were so like what I remembered. And she, like Mycroft and myself, would have had to make her own way. Marriage, had she been so inclined, and so lucky; or some form of employment.

No, no sister of mine would have fallen into Rucastle’s mysterious scheme, but I could not help but wonder what she would have become, had she lived.
