Habit is a strange thing. It used to be that when a client would rouse Mrs. Hudson, she retorted on me, and I in my turn woke Watson.
Now he lives apart, a married man. But no sooner had a patient roused him with a strange tale, than he bundled the man into a cab and came to rouse me.
