I thought nothing of the case at first, and fell asleep expecting news by morning. Nothing. The hour hand slipped 'round the clock, the sun sank below the rooftops, the candle melted to a puddle. Still no word came.

It was nonsense. How could it be? Only one answer, then.

"I am afraid, Watson, that I shall have to go."
