"Tadpole Phelps" really is too good a nickname to not use for a clerihew. It's wonderful how you focus both here and in the drabble on his experiences as a student.

The nickname "Tadpole" makes me suspect Percy was smaller than the other boys, so they felt able to get away with bullying him... I do feel some sympathy for Phelps as a boy - I'm glad things have improved for him as an adult ^^ (Apart from future brothers-in-law putting his whole career at stake ^^")

Aww, poor Tadpole! I can't imagine anybody other than a fairly small boy would have earned the nickname tadpole, either. Unless, like Gussie Fink-Nottle, he kept amphibious pets. While I'm sad to see Percy so badly used by his schoolmates, it does set up the fabulously clever final line- I strongly approve of admonitory puns. :D

I do like the thought of Percy secreting tadpoles in his dorm ^_^

And it's kind of lucky isn't it? That "wicket" rhymes with "cricket" ^^ Fits in so neatly - I just don't think it was fair behaviour even if Percy had been showing off a bit ^^"
