Canon Story: The Naval Treaty

Lord Holdhurst
Was the worst-
Risking European despotism
Indulging in a spot of nepotism.

Poor old Tadpole:
Found copying a precious scroll
To be sublimely soporific.
Security was not terrific.

The doughty, sleepy Commissaire;
Whose lady vanished into air,
And set the Yard's suspicions blaring
(Fishy wife was a red herring).

Miss Anna Harrison, soon-to-be-Phelps,
Undertook some dictation and various helps.
Holmes gave her the task of unlocking the door
Precluding the ripping-up of the whole floor.

Brother Joe,
Was too slow
To move his precious booty
Before his sister went on duty.

Who told Joe Harrison, the villain,
Of documents whose guard was illin'?
The theft would be thwarted if Phelps had been hearty;
Was it Holdhurst? Or Mycroft? Perhaps Moriarty?

Thank you so much! I'm so happy you enjoyed these! It's fun, once you start looking for patterns, inconsistencies, and moments where Holmes seems unusually obtuse, you realize there are an awful lot of suspiciously sleepy people in this story. So of course there has to be a reason! :D

You are too kind- I'm a thoroughly average poet, but I do love puns and rhyming, and adding the Holmes canon is just the icing on the cake! Hee, I've been having so much fun thinking critically about the stories (having the Klinger Annotated Holmes helps), and Clerihews are a perfect way to poke fun when things seem strange or odd.
