This is true. She may not have a husband but she's no worse off than before. And Holmes suspected that Stapleton might have considered murdering her.

Yes, she escaped from Stapleton with her life. And she didn't go to prison, even though she thought that Stapleton was involved in Sir Charles' death and so could be considered a conspirator herself.

I think one of the delights of clerihews is taking a difficult to rhyme surname and then still managing to come up with something. Woman pitted against clerihew - it's a noble sport ^_^
