When he came to me asking for advice, I almost gave him one. But then I realised that this might be a perfect opportunity for finally meeting Sherlock’s flatmate.

A friend of my brother, in other words the rarest natural phenomenon.

As I expected his stubborn refusal, I was extremely pleased that I did not need to urge Sherlock to assume this investigation. I’m well aware of Watson’s remarkable influence on my brother, yet ... for getting Sherlock out off his dark moods sometimes a true miracle would be needed.

Or an intriguing murder, judging from the grateful look Watson gave me.

It really is a shame that ACD didn't give us more Mycroft ^^ In your first 60, I like the way we see Mycroft's curiosity about Watson, and in the second, I like the little glimpse of a possible friendship between Watson and Mycroft. In the canon stories, I don't think they really have much to do with each other.

Not long ago I came to conclusion that ACD was actually evil teaser. He introduced many interesting characters and ... nothing. Now, I know it is very likely due to the serialised nature of Holmes' stories, but still, some of them should have ended up with much more appearances / interactions with Holmes and Watson.
