Canon Story: His Last Bow
Title: Longing
Author: [livejournal.com profile] winryweiss
Rating: G
Notes: Holmes' PoV. And no Beta-reading for these, pray your forgiveness.

"Stand with me here upon the terrace, for it may be the last quiet talk that we shall ever have."

We enjoyed each other’s company before the departure, reminiscing and chattering, when Watson suddenly asked: “Supposing you had the chance, would you come back in time?”

In his eyes I saw the memory of bygone youth, of an era of horse-drawn carriages and shimmering gaslight.

Oh, how I long for living through it once again, another lifetime by his side.

That's so moving ^^" So much has changed since they first met. (And so much is about to change.) I'm glad we can actually do it - go back in time and relive their adventures. Each time we read one of the stories, they come alive again.

This has brought unexpected tears to my eyes, both for (a nostalgic, I admit) Victorian London and the relationship of those two men. You evoke them with such few but poignant words, so very powerful.
