The third line is particularly poignant and moving in this town, wconsidering how much better a mayor ours would have been if she's never been born.

That is a good idea about the holiday island - if I'm stuck there, I might as well make the most of it :P ("Being half drowned and scratched is practically obligatory" - are these unhappy childhood memories of summer holidays coming to the surface? ^^)

It wasn't an official holiday camp, and not unhappy at all. Except for the homecoming, explaining to Mum you were going to need most of your clothes replaced.
