Holmes stood, shirt in shreds. The wings at his back glittered steely grey.

I was lucky to not collapse on the floor. "Are you...?"

"No." He held out his hand, pale, bony, strong, as it had always been.

I took it, and he pulled me towards the window.

"Let's fly."

And we did, hand in hand, over this great city.
