What a great detail to pick up on ^^ And it's lovely to find out that Holmes and Watson enjoyed their time in Norway - they weren't going on business after all.

Thank you! Seeing your name and gardnerhill's attached to this particular challenge was the reason I thought to give it a try (I didn't know there was poetry, too, but I'm going with it). Y'all did such nice things during the July Watson's woes challenge.

Yeah, smoked fish, pickled fish, the tiny kind that slide down your throat, herring? sardines? (I even saw that something that said the aquavit was intended to help wash the little fish into someone's stomach. Meh.)

Consider this an homage to your entry for last week and most of reason I even decided to give the challenge a go is your last two entries. I want to try my hand at a steampunk femlock later in the year and not embarrass myself completely with my very un-Victorian voice.

Oh wow. I'd be honored if you'd take a look at it. I won't even be writing until November so it'll be a while, but, yeah, yeah. I've never had a beta because, frankly, my writing is a bit of secret from my RL, where no one really reads for pleasure or writes for pleasure or, you know, has an open mind or any curiosity about anything.

Christ, when I write in black-and-white it sound like I live in a hole! There is an Olive Garden, though :)

I've been reading some of the original science fiction stories that inspired steampunk, and I think it's interesting. If H.G. Wells and Jules Verne had been women, I think we'd see steampunk washing machines and steampunk vacuum cleaners instead of dirigibles and submarines and trains. Instead of the Island of Dr. Moreau it'd be the island of Doctor-so-Good-we-don't-all-die-in-childbirth.
