“So rum instead of whiskey or brandy, that’s how you knew he was a seaman.”

“There is much to deduce from the spirits that a man drinks, or does not drink.”

“And what does this fine linie aquavit,” he raised his glass, “tell you?”

“That ‘somewhere in Norway’ is an excellent choice to spend one’s Christmas with one’s dear friend.”

What a great detail to pick up on ^^ And it's lovely to find out that Holmes and Watson enjoyed their time in Norway - they weren't going on business after all.

(Incidentally, not sure if it's just my browser, but there seems to be something odd going on in the header for your post - do you want to try editing it..?)

Must admit it looks exactly the same to me ^^" Your userhead is showing up as a URL, rather than an image. (Next to where it says "Author", not the one under your icon.) Don't worry about it though - must be a problem my end! ^^

I very much like your extension of the case. It certainly answers the question of why they went to Norway.

And welcome to the comm.

I'd thought they were going to Norway on holiday. (It'll certainly make them appreciate British food when they get home - "More lutefisk?")

Neat and well thought. I can just see this happening in canon.

Aw, thank you. You'll find all sorts of things over here, so do please treat it as fun.

Especially the poetry - we have some gifted poets in our midst, whilst others of us are just grateful to get something to rhyme, never mind getting the metre correct.

Gosh, thanks, I'm pleased to have helped inspire you!

Now smoked fish I love (must be my Scottish ancestry or something).

If you'd like a beta reader for the Victorian stuff in your femlock let me know. I've beta'ed a couple of other folks.

Olive Garden? My sympathies. Will ship you one of the North Beach Italian restaurants we have here. (They do have fabulous breadsticks, though.)

"Solar stoves? So I don't have to walk 10 miles and spend 6 hours of my life every day looking for firewood? Hello, education!" (Which is actually starting to happen in some rural parts of India and Central Africa.)
