“I see Wagner has not improved your humour, Watson.”

I grunted.

“Come, tell me what’s got you sore.”

“Can’t you deduce it?”

“Bricks and clay, my dear man. A clue, please.”

“How about two? Unmitigated bleat!”

“Oh, that,” Holmes said, smiling. “When printed in the Gazette, it’s one matter, but when whispered softly in the ear, it’s most assuredly another.”

Ooh Holmes, I think you should be careful - making caustic comments about your lover's words and subjecting him to Wagner.

At least, they missed the first part. But Wagner would be a horrible soundtrack if one is stewing over a lover's snipe. Poor Watson!
