He talked, smiled, distracted.
He aimed for the gut, but traded accuracy for speed. The bullet grazed a leg. Nearly missed altogether. A rotten shot.
But also the luckiest of his life.

Yes, EVERYONE was lucky not to have to discover what exactly Holmes might do in his worst moment, including Holmes.
