Those amongst our readers who are keen players of the game of chess will be delighted to learn we shall soon be running a monthly chess column.  It will be penned by one of the members of the City of London Chess Club and we are sure it will be of interest to the beginner and the experienced player alike.

I'm sure it'll be interesting. Probably won't include survival techniques that extend to how to escape from locked murder chambers. Just gambits and capturing queens and what-not.

We are sure the ability to plan one's game tactically may have more applications than chess, but on this occasion our columnist will be concentrating on the more obvious aspects of the game.
