Ah, Lord St. Simon. A most excellent example of the pitfalls of sentiment, Watson, although not quite in the way one would expect. He was correct, she was a noble woman – how else could she have responded once she knew her husband to be alive? Pity the gentleman allowed his bruised pride to stand in the way of their rapprochement.
