Very interesting and thank you for compiling. For Watson, gambling is always a possible topic of fic. If we believe he spends half of his wound pension on it, then he's doing quite a bit of it all through canon (or maybe after Mary dies?) I've always consider it to be one of the 'vices' he tells Holmes that he has when he's well, although I realize he's gambling before he meets Holmes, when he drains into London after the War.
