Summary: Did Holmes forget how the story began? Sheesh!

“One final matter, your Grace, you will use your influence and your resources, if required, to remove the tarnish these machinations have cast upon the reputation of Doctor Huxtable and his school.”

The Duke nodded. “Very well.”

I looked at Holmes.

He may have forgotten his client, but I do not forget a patient.

Did Holmes forget how the story began? Sheesh! D'you know, I have never considered this before - an excellent point to bring up. Even though the boy was recovered (physically) unharmed, the school will still have the reputation of a place where the pupils aren't safe. It isn't a neat and tidy ending for poor Dr. Huxtable.

Perhaps allowing Arthur to return to the school will help - it implies the Duke has faith in the school. I hope the Duke writes one of his large cheques too, to assist the school financially.

Yes. And I think Agatha Christie hammered it home a lot in her stories, the idea that scandal hurts the innocent much more than the guilty and we've seen what happens to schools tainted by scandal (Stapleton in HOUND). Yes, financial support but I think word-of-mouth and good press might be even more helpful.
