“Until now,” Mary said, and her eyes glowed white.

Though to be honest, I think Sarah got her punishment in the canon story. She seemed haunted by what she'd done as soon as she heard about the ears and understood her sister was dead. I pity her having to live with that kind of guilt and I can see her ending up in an asylum, as you suggest.
