Canon Story: A Case of Identity
Title: Ready, Aim, Fire
Author: Mafief
Rating: G
Warnings: none
Summary: But in any case I wish you to understand once for all that I love him and that he loves me, and that the opinion of all the world is no more to me than the twitter of those birds outside the window.
The birds have opinions (not that it matters).

They observed the two humans from the branch of a well-manicured shrub.

“A new one? How many does it make now?”

“Far too many… I liked the last one the best.”

“You said that last time. Oh! They are walking near us. Let’s see if my aim has improved today.”

----

“My dear Adelbert! Here, let me wipe that off.”

Classic! See, Violet, you should have learnt from the birds.

This is just perfect - I love that ending ^___^ A wonderfully inspired leap from the line in the story.

At least some kinds of birds can see through his façade. :)

Okay, now I'm picturing Holmes calling a sparrow or starling to his finger at the Baker Street window like Mary Poppins and issuing his order for the attack because of course he would.

Good thing they weren't near all those pigeons in Trafalgar Square...
