Canon Story: The Problem of Thor Bridge
Title: What Really Happened to Isadora Persano
Rating: G
Note: I read an article recently about ingesting worms, and apparently "certain worm larvae can make their way from the digestive tract to the brain, where they cause an array of mental health issues, including permanent insanity." Most people eat worms for diet reasons (NOT encouraged), but apparently they can also help to suppress really bad allergies.
"Is it safe?" The journalist coughed, struggling for breath. His eyes were puffed and watery as he studied the wizened medicine man before him.
"Absolutely safe," his guide translated. "It is a traditional Amazonian cure."
Isadora took the proffered matchbox, grimacing at the wriggling worms inside, his only remaining hope. He grit his teeth, and lifted one to his lips.

Note: This got away from me, so here's a triple-length drabble. Also--did anyone else find it strange to read about "Isadora Klein" immediately after Isadora Persano? ACD really liked reusing names...
By the time Holmes arrived at St James' Street, Langdale Pike was already waiting with two snifters and a bottle of brandy.
"You were expecting me?"
"Of course." Pike poured the drinks, lifting one immediately to his thin lips. "I hear you've been to Harrow."
"Indeed. I spent a most informative morning at the Three Gables."
Pike raised an eyebrow at Holmes' untouched glass. Holmes nodded, and the second brandy followed the first with a sigh of satisfaction. "Isadora Klein."
Holmes raised an eyebrow. "The sugar magnate's widow?"
"And soon-to-be wife to the Duke of Lomand, according to gossip."
"Excellent," Holmes replied, eyes brightening. "My thanks. The usual payment will follow, of couse."
Holmes made to leave, but Pike detained him. "A word, Holmes. Free of charge." He lowered his voice. "There have been whispers of late. Concerning you and the good doctor." His cloudy, protuberant eyes stared up at the detective, unblinking.
"I see." Holmes rose, his expression unfathomable. "Thank you, but the warning is unwarranted."
Pike shrugged, pouring himself another brandy. "Suit yourself," he muttered to the detective's retreating back.
Well. He'd tried.

Date: 2012-06-24 02:53 pm (UTC)I really like the creativity of your piece. My knowledge of worms makes it all the more memorable, I think :)
So, you have any fics with an Isadora character?
