With Gilchrist no longer taking the examination for the Fortescue Scholarship, I find myself not caring who it is awarded to.  I would have been happy to see McLaren expelled, for he does not deserve to succeed, and although Daulat Ras is a good scholar, he is still an Indian.  Why did Gilchrist gamble with his future in that way?
