Author's Notes: 60 words of my own inspired by one of the canon stories. This week's story was inspired by a specific passage in the story and the original publication date (1908) and title.

WIST -- The Adventure of the Wisteria Lodge

"I'm sure, Watson, a week in the country will be invaluable to you," he remarked. "It is very pleasant to see the first green shoots upon the hedges and the catkins on the hazels once again. With a spud, a tin box, and an elementary book on botany, there are instructive days to be spent."

“A Reminiscence of Mr. Sherlock Holmes” was the original – and truthful – title in The Strand. Yes, he based it off of the notes gleaned from my old dispatch-box, but he took great liberties with the material.

As a story, it was a patchwork full of oddities and errors. As an attempt to amuse me during my recovery, it was priceless.

I have a bit of trouble wrapping my head around things today (rl matters), but was quite amused to see another Strand story making up a tool of communication for our boys again. ;P

There were just too many inconsistencies in WIST for me to get my brain to focus on anything else. And I rather liked the idea of Holmes writing up this 'story' to amuse Watson with, up to and including forgetting he was 'dead' in 1892! ;-)

There aren't enough stories 'officially' written by Holmes for me to not enjoy this idea (if this sentence makes any sense). I'd love to see Watson's reactions upon the gift. ;P

Thank you! I couldn't resist the idea of Holmes being the one to make all the 'mistakes' in documenting this case (or fictionalizing it). After all, who is most likely to forget when he was supposedly dead than Holmes himself?
