The Adventure of the Crooked Man

Title: Inequality

Author: [livejournal.com profile] tweedisgood

In every pair, must it be so? One, more stricken with love than the other: an eternal beggar of largesse from a greater soul, the leavings of the feast of life?

If so, then what when a third is added? Bachelor ties cut away by matrimony, itself only to be pierced by the eternal lure of “half-sporting, half-intellectual pleasure”?

Ow, ow, ow. Angst knives out again this week. I love your phrasing throughout, like the leavings of the feast of life. So evocative and painful.

Personally, I think Watson's "tingling" may well be from a distinctly different form of pleasure than the sporting/intellectual kind, regardless of what he says.

The beautiful thing about this is that I firmly believe it to be true. There does seem to always be one in a pair who loves more or deeper. I think perhaps I've tended to think of Watson as being the one more "in love" or "attached" even though he did go off and get married. This has made me think of them a bit differently, and I just love that. :D
