A/N:SPEC is another favorite of mine, but there is a key fact that is never addressed: the demise of, apparently, Helen Stoner some eight years after the events. Watson, oddly, provides no further clues to her "untimely" death.
"Holmes! Did you see?" I huffed, hurrying upstairs.
"Yes"
I entered the room with the paper. "What tragedy!"
"Mrs. Armitage, née Stoner, dying in childbirth is tragic to those who, as yourself Watson, draw affectionate ties. For me, abhorred by such emotion, 'tis equally tragic having my saving work undone. I suppose you are now free to publish your tale."
