Canon story: The Resident Patient
Title: One Ramble Taken, Another Missed
Author: impulsereader

----------

“You are exceedingly energetic this evening, my dear doctor.” His companion was vigorously sifting through a stack of papers. He lazily bowed a few staccato notes to illustrate.

“I cannot imagine where those pages have got to, Holmes.”

“You’re habitually very careful. Perhaps a stroll...”

“No, I set aside this time specifically.”

The violin produced a sulky glissando in response.

----------

A/N: There was a lot of talk of plot holes in the discussion on this story. This inspired me to take Watson’s observation that he cannot fix the date of this case exactly “for some of my memoranda upon the matter have been mislaid” and give Holmes a failed plan to complement that.

Nicely done. The piece is made by the contribution of the violin:-)

Enjoyable dialogue. Very obliging violin! Glad Watson finally decided to walk with Holmes - for three hours too! Is this the only time that Holmes suggests a walk? He's usually not the leisurely strolling type unless it's for a case investigation.

A nice thought! Good they both enjoy a stroll together in later years.
You're welcome and thanks for the sprightly jig :-)

Loved the evocative violin talking throughout this piece. I've always loved the violin as an extension of Holmes' mood.
