A/N Sorry, group. I'm late to the party this week. In RESI Holmes makes it clear that Blessington must be honest if he is to help him. But Holmes is turned down. What WAS Blessington/Sutton thinking?:

No advice for me?! None?! My very life is at stake and no help from the great detective?.
They'll KILL me surely! But he'd rather gain my confession. Bring me straight to Scotland Yard, he would...The great Sherlock Holmes has done it again! Curse him. Curse him!! I am ruined. Dear God, so ruined. Nothing can save me now!

I can definitely buy that as what he might have been thinking. Well done!

And because he wouldn't admit to Holmes who he was, because he himself was devious he didn't trust anyone else, he lost his life. Well put.

Engineering his own misfortune. Betrayed the trust of his fellow felons, could not bring himself to trust anyone else. Hoisted by his own petard?

Well put:-)

No apologies necessary -- we're very relaxed here, and catchups are welcome. More fic = good is my policy. :)

Fascinating to think that Blessington knew he was doomed in that moment, that he was sealing his own fate.

I love all the anger and bluster even as he cannot open up to the one person who might have been able to save him. Feels very plausible. Love it!
